Senior Fintech Specialist in the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Fintech Unit

Herco is a Senior Fintech Specialist in the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Fintech Unit, having previously worked as a Senior Economist in the SARB’s International Economic Relations and Policy Department, where he focused on international financial regulatory issues. Herco is also the current Chairperson of the South African Intergovernmental Fintech Working Group’s (IFWG) Crypto Assets Regulatory Working Group. His current interests include crypto-assets, stablecoins, emerging global stablecoins and DeFi. Herco holds a PhD from the University of Pretoria and an MSc Finance from the University of London.
