Mr. Akhona Damane is a visionary IT leader with a focus on Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity. He has spearheaded several flagship initiatives, including the South African National Blockchain Alliance, the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research, and served as a thought leader for the World Economic Forum’s C4IR-SA. As a pragmatic Digital Transformation leader, Akhona is dedicated to uncovering the value of emerging technologies for organisations by exploring new business models, leveraging data, and enhancing customer centricity for competitive advantage.

With over 20 years of IT experience, including 14 years in senior management and executive roles, Mr. Damane has worked across multiple industries such as information technology, agriculture, built environment/construction, rail transport, FMCG, research, and government. As the Chief Technology Officer, he oversees four departments: Software Engineering, Product Development, IT Operations, and Research.
