Candice Dawkshas sits at the rare intersection of law and blockchain, as both a practising attorney with over 20 years’ experience and the Chief Executive Officer of one of South Africa’s licensed Crypto Asset Service Providers. Through SchindlersX, the country’s first legal led real world asset exchange, she is leading the tokenisation of real world assets, from property to precious metals, using regulatory structures she helped pioneer to bring compliant, fractional investment within reach of everyday investors.

That vision is already delivering results. In the platform’s one property offering, the tokenisation of prime development land at Seaton Estate on KwaZulu-Natal’s North Coast, investors realised returns of over 35% in under a year, from a minimum investment of just R100. The project demonstrated what tokenisation promises for African markets: institutional grade property opportunities, opened to ordinary investors, executed within a fully compliant legal framework.

Candice’s legal career spans more than two decades, from Bowmans to partner at BKM Attorneys, before founding her own practice, CRD Attorneys, in 2017. Today her practice advises exchanges, token issuers and fintechs on crypto asset licensing, FICA and anti-money laundering compliance, exchange control and the fast evolving regulatory treatment of crypto assets in South Africa. This dual role, as regulator facing attorney and operator of a live exchange, gives her an unusually practical view of what compliant innovation actually looks like.

An early mover in African blockchain, Candice previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Virtual Nation Builders, where she directed landmark digital asset projects including the Nelson Mandela Warrant of Arrest NFT, which sold for $130,000, the First Rhino Horn NFT in support of rhino conservation, and the Alkabulan African Digiverse, a platform preserving African heritage through digital assets.
