Chantal Maritz is a Partner at PwC South Africa and leads the firm’s Financial Services Consulting practice, specialising in Payments and Financial Services Transformation.

With more than 20 years of experience, she has worked with clients across various industries, demonstrating strong expertise in Financial Services and Digital Transformation. Chantal leads Financial Services and Payments Transformation within PwC and advises leading institutions on digital and strategic transformation, driving innovation, resilience, and modernisation across the financial ecosystem. Her efforts have played a key role in advancing innovation and payments modernisation in South Africa.

Chantal is a strong advocate for transformation across multiple sectors and has successfully led numerous strategic design and transformation projects across Africa and globally. She has contributed significantly to major national initiatives, including the design of the Payments Industry Body (PIB), the Digital Identity Case for Change, and the Rapid Payments Industry Programme, culminating in the launch of Instant Payments (PayShap), leading the Instant Payments Initiative in Namibia as well as key strategy assignments for financial institutions.

Committed to fostering progress, Chantal actively supports educational development in South Africa by participating in upskilling and support programmes through various social upliftment initiatives aimed at closing the digital divide.
