From financial emigrant to digital nomad, Joaquim Pedro Antunes has lived in Lisbon, Amsterdam and London working for companies from all over the world.

JP has over 20 years of industry experience ranging from traditional Financial Institutions to startups in the mobile banking, online payments and blockchain in Portugal, the Netherlands, USA, UK, Bahrain and Gibraltar.

Having first invested in Bitcoin in 2010, he started developing solutions for crypto-native startups in 2016, later taking a role as CTO for a crypto exchange. After joining Xapo in 2021, he’s had a leading role in developing and implementing the crypto strategy and led the crypto engineering team to successfully deliver banking grade product offerings for BTC, USDC and Lightning Network.
