Jonathan Ovadia

Jon is a serial entrepreneur and technology enthusiast that impressed at a very young age. At 16 Ovadia started a private hedge fund leveraging CFD’s with a focus on the fast growing technology consultancy firms. The same year Ovadia built LottoPool, an online lottery club allowing users to pool their funds in order to increase their chances of winning.

Whilst studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cape Town; Jon co-founded 4 companies. MadMash a lifestyle media company focusing on the underserved South African youth. GTG an on-demand grocery delivery startup which later became Magic. As well as OV Soft, a software consulting firm building disruptive technologies for startups. Then in 2017 Jon founded what is now the largest digital asset prime broker and exchange in South Africa – OVEX. Jon is particularly passionate about the potential cryptocurrency has to revolutise African finance for the better. The exchange is building solutions that address the lack of institutional access to global finance on the African continent.

These include leveraging stablecoins for cross-border remittances and trade financing.
